Licensure screening for nurses, therapists, and healthcare professionals, filed under the correct Department of Health ORI.
The Florida Department of Health, through its Division of Medical Quality Assurance, licenses most healthcare professions in the state — nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, physical and occupational therapy, respiratory care, and dozens more. Fingerprint-based screening sits inside those application paths, and for many professions it's a condition of the licence being issued at all.
The confusion worth clearing up early: Department of Health screening is for your licence. AHCA screening is for your employment in a licensed facility. They are separate submissions under separate ORIs, and a new graduate frequently needs both — the licensure screening first, then an employment screening once hired. People who assume the first covered everything are the ones who end up paying twice in the same month.
RN and LPN applicants are screened as part of the licence application, including applicants by endorsement.
Dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants fall inside the licensure screening requirement.
Pharmacists and registered technicians are screened before registration or licensure.
Physical, occupational, respiratory, and speech therapy applicants are screened at application.
Counsellors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists are screened for licensure.

The Department of Health screens you for the licence itself. AHCA screening, deposited in the Clearinghouse, is what an employer retrieves before putting you on a schedule. These are separate submissions under separate ORIs, and one does not automatically satisfy the other. Both are Level 2 screenings under the same statute; they simply route to different agencies for different purposes.
There is some good news in how the agencies now share data. The Clearinghouse is used by the Department of Health, AHCA, DCF, and APD, which means a current result can sometimes be retrieved across those routes rather than repeated. Whether it applies to your situation depends on the profession and the timing. Ask us before booking a second appointment — we'd rather check than take a fee you didn't need to spend.

Not automatically. Your employer needs a result they can retrieve from the Clearinghouse under their own ORI. Sometimes an existing result can be retrieved rather than repeated — ask them to check first.
Applying by endorsement still requires Florida screening under a Florida ORI. Your out-of-state licence doesn't carry the screening across.
Check your application instructions. Several paths want the application submitted first so results have somewhere to attach — screening too early can mean a result that expires before your application completes.
