Arrive without it, or with the wrong one, and the submission goes somewhere nobody is looking — which is the single most common reason people pay to be fingerprinted twice.

The distinction matters when you're reading a requirement. A form asking for “Live Scan” is telling you the method and assuming you know the rest. A form asking for “Level 2” is telling you the standard and leaving the method to you. Either way you end up in the same chair — but if your form specifies an agency or a statute, that detail decides which ORI we file under, so bring the whole page rather than the one line.
Without the right ORI your results have nowhere to go, and routing cannot be corrected after submission.

The capture itself is the quick part — roughly ten minutes at the scanner, a little longer when a photo or a printed card is involved. Electronic submissions leave our office the same day, so nothing sits waiting on a courier or a weekly batch run.
What happens after that is the agency's clock, not ours. State and federal processing typically returns a result within a few business days, and posting to a board or to the Clearinghouse follows from there. If you are working against a start date or a filing deadline, say so when you book from Jupiter and we will tell you honestly whether the timeline is realistic rather than finding out later that it wasn't.

A valid government photo ID and your ORI number. A driver's licence is ideal because our reader pulls your details straight off the barcode, which speeds up intake and removes typing errors on your name or date of birth.
It identifies the agency that requested your screening and routes your results to them. Your employer, licensing board, or application packet will have it. If you can't find it, call before you set out from Jupiter and we'll usually locate it.
FDLE typically returns results to the requesting agency within a few business days. Results go to the agency rather than to you — that's how the statute is written, so follow up with them rather than with us.
