Live Scan is the method, not the requirement. Level 2 describes the depth of the background check itself: fingerprint-based, covering Florida records through FDLE and national records through the FBI. You get a Level 2 screening by means of a Live Scan capture.
The distinction matters when you're reading a requirement. A form asking for “Live Scan” is telling you the method and assuming you know the rest. A form asking for “Level 2” is telling you the standard and leaving the method to you. Either way you end up in the same chair — but if your form specifies an agency or a statute, that detail decides which ORI we file under, so bring the whole page rather than the one line.

Most agencies want a result issued within the last six to twelve months. Old is treated the same as none.

What happens after that is the agency's clock, not ours. State and federal processing typically returns a result within a few business days, and posting to a board or to the Clearinghouse follows from there. It identifies the agency that requested your screening and routes your results to them. Your employer, licensing board, or application packet will have it. If you can't find it, call before you set out from Wellington and we'll usually locate it.
FDLE typically returns results to the requesting agency within a few business days. Results go to the agency rather than to you — that's how the statute is written, so follow up with them rather than with us.

Usually. Cuts, calluses, and worn ridges make capture harder but rarely impossible — we work through it carefully rather than rushing. If ridge detail is genuinely insufficient there are documented alternative procedures, and we'll explain them.
